Welcome to the Green Templeton Boat Club website

Since Green Templeton’s inception in October of 2008, the Green Templeton Boat Club has been a fast growing part of the College community. GTBC exemplifies the time-honoured tradition of rowing at the University of Oxford.  Endorsed by GTC students, faculty, and staff, the club is at the centre of sporting and social life within the College.  Leadership, athleticism, discipline, and engendering a sense of community are among GTBC’s core values.  The aim of the club is to organise rowing activities as well as build solidarity among members within GTC.  This responsibility is vested in the Officers of the Committee, who work closely with GTBC membership and coaches to gain input and continually improve the club.

We believe in offering our members the full rowing experience – from racing competitions to socials with crewmates and supporters.  The College part-owns Longbridges Boathouse on the River Thames, which offers our rowers a number of opportunities for expansion and improvement, both as a club and as athletes.  Longbridges' recently expanded fleet and erg room allow team members to train, while the clubroom gives members the opportunity to meet and socialize.

Under the supervision of our men’s and women’s coaches, crews of all experience levels train during the Oxford academic term and throughout the vacation periods. We regularly enter crews into inter-collegiate Oxford events, some of the most exciting of which are the Christ Church Regatta for novice rowers in the fall, and Torpids and Summer Eights in the spring. We also enter external head races and external regattas, such as Wallingford Head, Henley Town and Visitors, Staines, Oxford City Royal and the Head of the River race in London.
