Head Men's Coach - Alexander Rhodes

Alex Rhodes joined Green Templeton Boat Club in late 2009 as the head men's coach. He is currently a Doctoral student in the English Department at Oxford, where his primary research focus is medieval poetry. Alex as been involved with coaching and coxing at Oxford University and Durham University for over a decade and is widely renowned for an exceptional turn of phrase and draw-out rowing analogies. Aside from coaching the men's crews, Alex has coxed Green Templeton to victory in a number of regattas.

Head Women's Coach - Allan French

Allan French joined Green Templeton Coat Club as head women's coach in late 2010. In his first year with the club, Allan has devoted a significant portion of time developing a pool of rowers. The women's first crew went on to earn blades in both Torpids and Eights, as well as move into fixed divisions in Torpids. The second crew also performed phenomenally, narrowly missing out on blades in both competitions. Currently, Allan works as an architect for an Oxford firm whilst also serving as a Royal marines Commando in the Royal Marines Reserves. Allan also coaches the St John's College women's first crew.

Consulting Coach - Mike Smets

Mike Smets is a Oxford graduate who founded the Green Templeton Boat Club in 2008 and sat as President on the committee in 2009. Despite graduating that year, he he remains closely involved with the club, in the capacity of both a coach and an oarsman. Mike rowed in Summer Eights 2011 where he earned the first Green Templeton blade for a men's crew, while also coaching the women's third crew, who also performed particularly well in that competition. Currently, Mike lectures in Business Strategy at Aston Business School in Birmingham.

Consulting Coach - Charlie Simpson

Dr Charlie Simpson is a a senior lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science at Oxford Brookes University. He has a PhD in human physiology, with a special interest in sport drinks, hydration and exercise performance. Charlie is currently researching rowing performance, including on-water and laboratory measurement of technique and crew timing. Charlie is himself a qualified rowing coach and has competed at elite level as a lightweight sculler. In 2007, while working with Reading Rowing Club, he won the ARA Senior Coach of the Year Award. Charlie currently works part-time with the Green Templeton men's squad at Reading Rowing Club.
