As the club expands and takes on new challenges, the women's squad travelled to Wallingford to represent the club on November 27. They competed in the women's IM3 8+ category, where they clocked a solid time of 18 minutes and 50 seconds on a course of 4.3Km. In the process, they beat other Isis oponents, like City of Oxford Rowing club, and Oxford Academicals.
Wallingford Head is a regular fixture to some of the best established clubs on the Thames, including University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes. It serves as one of the preparation races for the Head of the River series for eights on the Tideway in London, taking place in March (3rd for the women and 17 for the men). Captain Allison Stewart and coach Allan French were very pleased with the performance.
The crew consisted of:
Erie Martha Lane (cox), Allison Stewart (stroke), Robyn Cox (7), Ros Howes (6), Amy Zheng (5), Claire Waddington (4), Neelam Hassanali (3), Mel Bunce (2) and Rachel Cary (bow). Coach: Allan French
Congratulations to the ladies on this excellent performance.

In an ever growing relation, Hertford College and Green Templeton boat clubs teamed up to compete in the Cam for The Faribairn Cup, which marks the start of the rowing year at Cambridge University. In an overall field of 70 boats, which included Cambridge and Oxford University colleges, varsity squads, and other clubs, the strong crew placed 12 among college crews (Oxford and Cambridge) and 17 overall, in a time of 15:11.80. Among Oxford colleges, our combined crew placed second, only beaten by Pembroke College's very solid crew. Such a performace would earn the crew a place among Cambridge's first division.
Joseph Feyertag (Green Templeton) and Kristian Klausen (Herford) were very happy with the results, specially against such a strong field, and in the Cam, a narrow river difficul to navigate, particularly for crews not used to it. Captain Feyertag commented that the crew overcame some challenges which included blade clashes and having to overtake two crews given the initially low bow number that the crew had. Also, he said: "we had 4 outings together as a crew, [and therefore] I thought this was a huge success."
Well done boys
Crew: Lizzy Fitzgerald (Cox), James Holley (stroke), Andrew Symington (7), Sam Barnard (6), Joseph Feyertag (5), Kristian Kalusen (4), Rob Hastings (3), Peter Morten (2), Mark Longhurst (bow), Coach: Graham Topping

In this magnificent beginning of the autumn, with no major weather disruptions affecting rowing, Green Templeton Boat Club has presented strong squads from both the men and women's sides at Christ Church regatta, the first major rowing event of the academic year.
Having started last Wednesday the 23rd, the two boats representing the men's squads had their respective races. GTC MB did a splendid job and beat Balliol MB with a verdict of easily. GTC MA was less fortunate, having rowed hard, was finally bested by the solid performance of St. Annes MA, sending them to the repechage round. On Thursday the 24th, the women's squad raced against Magdalen WA and delivered a convincing victory with 2 and a half lengths. GTC MA had their chance to come back from the previous defeat to beat Merton MB by a length in an exciting race. All crews, having made it to the second round of competition, were racing on Friday. GTC MB opened the day of racing with a convincing victory over Somerville MA, sending them to their next, now 3rd round race. Later on, they capitalized on that opportunity by beating Pembroke MC with a wide advantage. GTC MB is now on its way to the 4th round of the competition, being our first ever crew since the foundation of GTBC to make it to this round, on the Saturday of Christ Church regatta. GTC MA had a very exciting race against the Christ Church MA, but finally lost to them. A similar fate struck GTC WA in their competition against Somerville WA, loosing by a very narrow margin.
On Saturday GTC MB started the day advancing to the quarter finals, with a two-lengths victory over St. Benet's Hall, advancing one more stage to the quarterfinals, were they were finally beaten by New College, stroking at a considerable higher rate than GTC.
All crews will now celebrate their achievements at the regatta dinner, and event sure to produce yet more pictures! Congratulations to all the crews. Great springboard for the rest of the year.

GTC WA: Suzanne Holsomback (cox); Oliwia Rysnik (Stroke); Ariell Ahearn (7); Ariel Liu (6); Maria Muller (5); Caroline Sanvitale (4); Ouleye Ndoye (3); Colette Belisle (2); Sarah Levitt (Bow), Coach: Mike Smets

GTBC Shines in Fours Head

Last Saturday GTBC
sent two crews to the Fours Head of the River, which is held annually on the Tideway in London. The 6.9km course is approximately the same as the one rowed by the Oxford and Cambridge Blues in the Boat Race, with the exception being that the race is run with the tide, as opposed to against it. The weather conditions were favourable and both GTBC crews performed incredibly well on the day. Full race results are attached to the end of this article.
The women's four was captained by Allison Stewart and Anna Seeley, and coached by Allan French. The boat comprised of Sheila Lumley (stroke), Nadine Levin (3), Melanie Bunce (2) and Anna Seeley (bow) and was coxed by Naomi Walker. They entered the W IM2 4+ category and, despite being the first head race for the GTBC women's squad, they put out an amazing performance, coming in 15th out of 46 crews in their division. They rowed the full course in 23m19s, a result that put them faster than many high-profile university crews, including two Cambridge University boats!
The men entered the same four rowers that took part in the Head of the Charles, namely Henno Martin (stroke), Andrew Symington (3), Tyler Lane (2) and Eduardo Lopez (bow). They were coxed by Sean Grant, captained by Joe Feyertag and Tyler Lane, and coached by Alex Rhodes and Charlie Simpson. The boat was entered into the IM2 4+ category and rowed the course in 21m19s, putting them in position 32 of 65 crews. Overall it was a technically sound row, and the crew was pleased the result.
Finally, we'd like to thank GTBC for continually supporting our involvement in external regattas, and Furnivall Sculling Club in Hammersmith for hosting us on the day. Most importantly, we'd also like to thank everybody who came out to support our crews, despite the chilly weather. Especially, to the former women's captain, Yulia Stange, for coming along from Germany to surprise us on the day!
