As the club expands and takes on new challenges, the women's squad travelled to Wallingford to represent the club on November 27. They competed in the women's IM3 8+ category, where they clocked a solid time of 18 minutes and 50 seconds on a course of 4.3Km. In the process, they beat other Isis oponents, like City of Oxford Rowing club, and Oxford Academicals.
Wallingford Head is a regular fixture to some of the best established clubs on the Thames, including University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes. It serves as one of the preparation races for the Head of the River series for eights on the Tideway in London, taking place in March (3rd for the women and 17 for the men). Captain Allison Stewart and coach Allan French were very pleased with the performance.
The crew consisted of:
Erie Martha Lane (cox), Allison Stewart (stroke), Robyn Cox (7), Ros Howes (6), Amy Zheng (5), Claire Waddington (4), Neelam Hassanali (3), Mel Bunce (2) and Rachel Cary (bow). Coach: Allan French
Congratulations to the ladies on this excellent performance.
