In an ever growing relation, Hertford College and Green Templeton boat clubs teamed up to compete in the Cam for The Faribairn Cup, which marks the start of the rowing year at Cambridge University. In an overall field of 70 boats, which included Cambridge and Oxford University colleges, varsity squads, and other clubs, the strong crew placed 12 among college crews (Oxford and Cambridge) and 17 overall, in a time of 15:11.80. Among Oxford colleges, our combined crew placed second, only beaten by Pembroke College's very solid crew. Such a performace would earn the crew a place among Cambridge's first division.
Joseph Feyertag (Green Templeton) and Kristian Klausen (Herford) were very happy with the results, specially against such a strong field, and in the Cam, a narrow river difficul to navigate, particularly for crews not used to it. Captain Feyertag commented that the crew overcame some challenges which included blade clashes and having to overtake two crews given the initially low bow number that the crew had. Also, he said: "we had 4 outings together as a crew, [and therefore] I thought this was a huge success."
Well done boys
Crew: Lizzy Fitzgerald (Cox), James Holley (stroke), Andrew Symington (7), Sam Barnard (6), Joseph Feyertag (5), Kristian Kalusen (4), Rob Hastings (3), Peter Morten (2), Mark Longhurst (bow), Coach: Graham Topping
